Sarah and Jules live and work between Paris, Pittsburgh and Berlin.

Sarah has a background in woodworking, while Jules has evolved in the field of artistic and decorative painting. Both are passionate about decorative arts and design, in particular ceramic objects.
Their journey began in Pittsburgh in 2018 when they met Jörg, the founder of the ECHT craftsmen association, who had been based in the city for over two decades. Together, they explored the potential of various types of earthenware and glazes, laying the groundwork for a collaboration based on shared craftsmanship, a passion for ceramics and, more broadly, design. As well as being ECHT craftsmen, Sarah and Jules have established their own design studio, ORRE, in Paris, while continuing to work in close collaboration with Jörg in Pittsburgh.
They first specialized in designing tiles, with old methods from the 1880s – 1920s, that were established for artisanal "Jugendstil" in Germany. Using hand-carved molds, they create a raised topography with a three-dimensional aspect on each tile.
After reproducing old traditional tiles to master the technique, they quickly moved on to their own, more contemporary designs. They draw their inspiration from architecture, such as the work of Athos Bulcão and Gio Ponti.
Each tile is handmade. After pressing or pooring the clay in hand-carved molds, each tile is cut, refined and glazed. Slight variations in shape and color may occur, resulting in a unique appeal.
In 2022, Sarah and Jules moved on to designing objects combining different materials, and not only ceramics. They began to design and craft mirrors that look more like sculptures, in that their reflection is subtle and secondary.
